Gone are the times when 8-hour workday was considered a productive day. Just like people, systems evolve, and if you don’t keep up with the system, you better have a hedge fund into your account to live your life.
In the modern era if you’re not being productive you’re not growing. For you to succeed, you need to figure out ways in which you can get the most out of your productive hours.
In the industrial age, companies initiated the 8-hour workday as an alternative to being productive. While some of the smart companies relied on easy task management software to better manage their workday, others preferred to go with eight-hour workday.
But the best way for us, to survive, is to move on without losing our prime focus. And the prime focus should be, to move away from anything that is affecting our productivity and shifting towards anything that can complement our energy to align with our work.
Instead of following the eight-hour workday approach you can follow these two approaches to get the most out of your day. These two approaches will help you complement your productivity in a positive way.
How to structure your day?
The way in which you start your day is the way which will guide you throughout the whole day.
In a recent study by Draugiem Group – an application was used to study the working habits of the employees. It concluded that the length of the working day has nothing to do with the productivity of the employee.
It was fascinating to see that the old beliefs are not true anymore. Taking necessary breaks boosts productivity. After 30 minutes of work, 5-10 minutes of break can help double the productivity without making any extra effort.
However, the ideal work-to-break ratio is 52 minutes of work that is followed by 17 minutes of break. In that break do nothing else.
Stop Predestinating and start creative procrastination
Procrastination is not good, but to do more in less time you need to adopt creative procrastination.
Sure, easy task management software might help you to a point, but if you really want to do things that matter, you need to learn the magic of taking aquacade breaks and stop procrastinating about it.
Creative procrastination is about doing work in your commune hours. For instance, when you are going for a break, you can take a walk in the park and come up with ideas that will come naturally to you.
And the natural ideas are the best ones. Figure out ways that can help you clear your mind and focus on the task at hand.
One great way to start your way well is to do morning pages. Morning pages will help you put down your thoughts in an organized manner.
What you need to do is to write 3 pages of whatever comes to your mind right after you wake up.
This will not only help you jump-start your day and move towards the most important tasks on the line.
To end it all
8-hour workday is never the option you need to follow anymore. You need to follow the tips mentioned above to release yourself from the 8-hour work day focus on the task at hand.
For an employee, and a business owner the only thing that matter on the long run is to figure out the productivity hours and do what is good for them.
The above-mentioned tips might help to gain a little insight regarding the importance of working productive instead of just consuming time for the sake of doing the work.
